Various cosmetics promise glowing skin through “vitamin enriched” creams. The pores of the skin are extremely small and in most cases, these creams simply stay on the surface of the skin and do not really penetrate into the skin. However, the only way to ensure that your skin actually receives the nutrients it needs is by consuming them. These nutrients are then transported to the skin via the blood stream.

A healthy diet consists of adequate amounts of various nutrients. Nutrition varies from person to person and is determined by factors such as sex, age, metabolic rate, weight and daily physical activities. Nutrients are divided into proteins, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, minerals, fiber and water. These nutrients can be found in various vegetarian and non-vegetarian foods. Although meat products are rich in protein and certain vitamins, it is best to eat them in moderation as they are also high in cholesterol and unhealthy fats.
